Mar Baselios Christian College of Engineering & Technology is owned and managed by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, one of the oldest Christian communities in India, traditionally believed to have been founded by Thomas the Apostle in A.D. 52. The Church has a rich legacy in education, healthcare, and social service, managing numerous institutions across Kerala and beyond.
Ninth Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan
His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III is the Supreme Head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the 92nd successor on the Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas. Born on 12 February 1949, he completed his B.Sc. in Chemistry and pursued theological studies at the Orthodox Seminary, Kottayam, Leningrad, Russia, and Rome. Known for his philanthropic initiatives, he has actively worked for the upliftment of the underprivileged.
Metropolitan, Idukki Diocese
H.G. Zachariah Mar Severios Metropolitan, born on 19 August 1978, is a distinguished spiritual leader, academician, and administrator. Ordained to priesthood in 2006 and elevated as Metropolitan in 2022. Serving as the Metropolitan of Idukki Diocese and Assistant Metropolitan of Kandanadu West Diocese, he plays a key role in guiding the institution’s development.
A visionary leader and the 91st Primate on the Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas, he was known for strengthening inter-church relations and promoting social and educational initiatives. His tenure enhanced global engagement with other Orthodox and Christian communities. He entered eternal rest on 12 July 2021.
A spiritually disciplined monk and scholar, he was known for his deep commitment to monastic traditions, education, and theology. He served as a teacher, headmaster, and academician before becoming Catholicos. His leadership reflected simplicity, scholarship, and spiritual depth. He entered eternal rest on 26 May 2014.
